Cub Scouts see firefighters in action
Parents & kids

TVFR firefighters from Station 60 (NW Cornell Rd. near NW Barnes Rd.) hosted 24 cub scouts from Pack 207 for National Fire Prevention Week.  The scouts are first graders at Cedar Mill Elementary, Bonny Slope Elementary and the French American International School.

The cub scouts toured the station, seeing where the firefighters eat, sleep and exercise.  They also got saw a firefighter suit up in 80 pounds of gear!

Then it was time for the boys to take charge.  They took turns on the hose, feeling just how much water pressure comes rushing out.

But the fun was interrupted by an actual call!  The alarm sounded and the firefighters jumped into action.  The tour ended with the fire truck rolling out - sirens blasting - to the scene of a car accident on NW Cornell Road.  The boys then understood just how important the job of firefighting really is.
