Restaurant, health clinic to provide services to seasonal farmworkers and their families | Community Spirit

Genoa Restaurant has joined with Virginia Garcia Memorial Foundation and Health Center in providing health care, education and other resources to migrant and seasonal farmworkers and their families.

On June 15, Genoa employees will spend the day at a local migrant camp -- Sergio I -- working alongside Virginia Garcia's outreach team to provide medical care and other resources to the camp's 150 residents.

This project is a partnership between Virginia Garcia and Genoa called Healthy Hands, Healthy Harvest. Healthy Hands, Healthy Harvest gives Portland area restaurants, known for sustainable practices and a focus on locally grown food, the opportunity to provide health care to farmworkers by partnering with Virginia Garcia. On June 23, Genoa and its sister restaurant Accanto will host an evening of amazing food and wine in support of local farmworkers — 15 percent of sales will go to support Virginia Garcia's migrant outreach program.

Virginia Garcia Memorial Foundation and Health Center – The Foundation provides enduring support for Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center through funding, community relations and the cultivation of community partners. Since 1975, Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center has provided high-quality, comprehensive, and culturally appropriate primary health care to the communities of Washington and Yamhill Counties with a special emphasis on migrant and seasonal farmworkers and others with barriers to receiving healthcare.

What:
